Ms. AT, one of the individuals who was scammed, said that on April 3, she submitted a new tax code registration application for the business, the tax office has scheduled an appointment on April 4 to get the results. However, just on April 6, a person claiming to be an IT staff member of the tax office called and asked to make friend Zalo to guide the installation of tax declaration software because he saw her tax registration information. .

After making friends with Zalo, because she was not sure, AT went to this person's personal page to check, and saw that the information and pictures were related to Tax, there was also a photo of her wife working at the tax office, so she also no doubt. About 10 minutes later, this self-proclaimed "IT employee" called via Zalo and instructed her to install the HCMTAX software - Ho Chi Minh Tax Department, she downloaded the application and registered an account on the app. But because the application was too heavy, the phone froze, so at 19:XNUMX that day, she removed the application.

However, at this time, she did not know that her information had been stolen by the crooks and had access to her phone. At 1:30 am while she was sleeping, this subject accessed her phone and transferred all the money in her account. It was not until noon on April 6 that she discovered the incident and reported it to the police and the bank.

After sharing the above incident on social networks, many people said that they had just encountered a case where someone claiming to be an employee of the tax agency called for instructions to install software like Ms. holidays so they are suspicious and don't install, so they get rid of a scam.

The Tax Department of Ho Chi Minh City noted: “The tax applications that the Tax Department is deploying on smart devices are only available through Google Play (for devices using Android operating system) and Apple Store (for devices using the Android operating system). using the iOS operating system).

Note when using applications (Applications) that the Tax Department deploys on smart devices such as Etax Mobile, Invoice Lookup, HCMTax,,…:

 – Only Access and download official apps via Google Play (for devices using Android operating system) and Apple Store (for devices using IOs operating system), check author (developer) information development).

 – When there is a need for information support, contact directly via the contact phone number listed on the website of Tax Departments and Departments of Taxation for support.

 – Never download or install apps for smart devices through unorthodox links (urls) or other instructions.

 – Currently, the Tax Department of Ho Chi Minh City has posted instructions for using and installing applications on the Youtube channel, website and electronic portal of the Tax Department.

 – One of the signs of identifying fraudulent applications is that when installing applications that often require permission such as: viewing the screen, input data, screen control ... so users need to carefully check the application. and app features before granting the above permissions.

As in the case of Ms. AT as reflected above, when installing, the words "General Department of Taxation have full access to your device" appear, and the application of the tax office never requests as above.
